I play a lot of Sudoku so was excited to see a decent version with good reviews. Since I only do 5 star level puzzles, I have mainly been working on the 2 highest levels. And I should say that they do provide a good challenge although the highest level isnt anything near many of the harder books (e.g., Brown/Black Belt Sudoku) or London Times. That is fine and I have yet to work on a puzzle that has multiple solutions as apparently other Sudoku iPhone apps erroneously have.
I enjoy the skins a lot although the default graphite one is not as easy to read as the other two. The pencil one is nice but it is sometimes hard to distinguish between givens and your entered numbers. So I just use the Vanilla one mostly now. I might suggest control over use of colors, font, size and style as a future ER.
If Hints are your thing, they apparently did a nice job with the implementation of this feature. Personally, I never use them or notes either so cant comment much beyond this. I only write one thing in a box and that is the actual number itself.
A few other features I enjoy include ability to listen to music (iPod) while playing a game. Also, your current game is automatically saved if you need to hit the Home button.
Some folks have commented about the pop-up entry pad positioning. I have gotten used to it, but I do agree with folks that it probably shouldnt cover the row, column or 3x3 box the selected square is in. Currently, the positioning avoids the row and column, but it does sometimes display within same 3x3 box. Also, the interface is a little awkward if you accidentally enter a number by mistake. Instead of hitting the X as one might expect, you need to hit the number again to delete it (not all that intuitive at first).
One other gripe I do have is how the setting for Show Errors works. Essentially, it displays the number in Red if it is not the correct value. I had thought that it would only do this for numbers where there was already a duplicate displayed. So to me this current implementation was sort of like cheating. Since it is fairly easy to hit the wrong number by mistake, it might be nice to have a Show Duplicates setting to control this. I think that would be much less intrusive than the current Show Errors setting.
Otherwise, this is a solid Sudoku game well worth the price!
